The Susquehanna women’s golf team competed at the Landmark Conference Preview on Oct. 19 at Queenstown Harbor Golf Lakes Course in Queenstown, Md.
The second day of the Landmark preview was cancelled due to rainy conditions.
Freshman Ella Moores had a strong day for Susquehanna, leading the team as she finished with a score of 93 that put her in eighth place out of 31 competitors.
Junior Kira Hunter had a score of 108 that put her in 20th place. Freshman Sofia Amoroso of Juniata College was on a roll during the preview, as she took first place overall with a score of 86.
Amoroso’s first place finish is the Juniata women’s golf team’s first solo win at a Landmark event in program history.
Drew University could not be stopped, however, as the Rangers came in first place as a team and won by eight strokes after shooting a 368. They have now won this event both years that it has been held.
Leading the pack for Drew was junior Kristine Masseria, who finished with an 89, which got her into second place out of all 31 competitors. All but one of Drew’s participants finished in ninth place or below.
Overall, the teams’ standings for this match were close. Drew University came in first place with a total of 368 and an 84 par, while Catholic University came in second place with a total of 376 and a 92 par.
Following Catholic was the University of Scranton, who came in third place with a total of 401 and a 117 par.
Rounding out the top five was Goucher College, who came in fourth place with a total of 418 and a 134 par, and Juniata College, who came in fifth place with a total of 424 and a 140 par.
Finally, Elizabethtown College came in sixth place with a total of 582 and a 298 par.
The Landmark Conference Preview marked the end of the women’s golf team’s fall season. After playing in four tournaments over the last few months, the team will now be out of action in term’s of live play until later this spring.
The River Hawks’ next match will be the Landmark Conference Championships on May 2-3 in Queenstown, Md.
