The Susquehanna men’s golf team took to Abbottstown, Pa. on Sept 28-29 for the Mason-Dixon Collegiate Classic, leaving the tournament in 16th place out of the 18 competing teams.
Freshman Devin Peart led the way individually for the River Hawks, finishing 18th overall with a combined score of 152 for both days.
While Susquehanna left the tournament at the bottom of the table, there were many positives to take from the weekend.
The team shot a 649 overall score, which was down on winning McDaniel College’s 593. Susquehanna’s four scoring players were Peart, sophomore Andrew Galleta, sophomore Greg Hirak and senior Jon Pierce.
Peart came into the weekend strong, as he had won the individual in Williamsport and led the team in both tournaments before the Mason-Dixon Collegiate Classic.
Galletta shot a 160 which put him at 16 over par. This was good enough to tie for 57th place. Hirak finished 19 over par at 163, putting him 69th.
Pierce rounded out scoring for River Hawks, finishing 30 over par with a 174, good enough for 88th place. Junior Logan Kern finished the weekend with a 185 which put him in 93rd to round out Susquehanna’s Abbottstown team.
The team will continue its strong start to the season on Oct. 5 against conference competition in the Landmark Conference Fall Preview from the Scotch Valley Country Club in Hollidaysburg, Pa.
