The 24-Hour play festival is back for another year and is being held at 7:30 p.m. on Oct. 12 and Oct.13 in Issacs auditorium.
The festival is produced entirely by Susquehanna students. They will have only 24 hours to write, cast, rehearse and perform a 10 minute scene.
Seniors Madison Niness and Rowen Mahoney were chosen last semester to lead the production this year. Their planning process has included multiple meetings to discuss the logistics involved with putting on such an event.
Niness and Mahoney will soon be scheduling information sessions for those interested in participating. This allows them to get an idea of how many people want to be involved and what they want to do during that 24 hour time frame.
However, most of the work will be on the day of, when both Mahoney and Niness will be in charge of holding auditions, assigning casts to directors and writers and creating a rehearsal schedule. Writers will write their scripts within this this time span. From that, actors will rehearse to be ready to perform a short time later.
The 24-hour play Festival has been a second-stage program staple for the Susquehanna theatre department. Previous years have had a decent turn out when it comes to involvement in the production.
“Last year I believe we had about 30 people involved. We had about eight plays with two to three people in each,” Niness said.
Those interested in participating in the 24-hour play festival are encouraged to reach out to either Mahoney or Niness over email for more information.
Students are also encouraged to attend the information session once a date has been decided.
