Susquehanna’s men’s golf team finished in seventh place out of 14 teams in their fall opener on Sept. 17 at Elizabethtown’s Invitational Tournament.
Freshman Devin Peart finished in a three-way tie for 15th overall out of 73 with a final score of 78 to lead the River Hawks.
Sophomore Greg Hiriak finished 26th in a five-way tie with a score of 82. Following Hiriak for the River Hawks was sophomore Andrew Galletta as he and six other golfers tied at 84 for 32nd place overall. Senior Alex Wager held a three-way tie at 86 for 44th place.
Junior Logan Kern was the last of the top five finishers for Susquehanna in a four-way tie for 58th place with a final tally of 93. Overall, the team shot a total of 330 with 46 over par.
Peart’s performance paved the way for Susquehanna’s first tournament of the season, an impressive feat for a freshman golfer.
“It feels great to come in as a freshman and shoot 78 and lead the guys in the first tournament,” Peart said. “I was a bit nervous with it being my first college tournament, but I settled in and battled hard for my score.”
Next up for the River Hawks is the Mason-Dixon Collegiate Classic on Sept. 28 and 29 in Abbottstown, Pa.
