The Susquehanna women’s cross country team competed at the Lock Haven Invitational on Sept. 21, finishing 21st out of 37 teams and being led by senior Erin Reese.
Reese placed 21st out of 404 finishers, ending with a time of 22:18.6 on the 6K course for a personal record and the 4th fastest time in Susquehanna history.
The next finisher for the River Hawks was freshman Kellan Carter, placing 88th with a time of 23:51.8, also earning a personal best 5K time.
Following Carter was junior Marissa Kleman, finishing 95th with a personal record time of 23:57.1, with sophomore Anastasia Farley coming behind her to finish 213th. The fifth finisher for Susquehanna was senior Katherine Mayer, placing 220th.
Looking back at the invitational, it seems as if the 6K course was certainly a challenge for the River Hawks.
“It [the race] was good, but definitely a bigger challenge than the 5K,” freshman Callie Rohrer said.
West Virginia’s Amy Cashin placed first individually with a time of 20:35.8, with two runners from West Virginia University claiming second and third.
The West Virginia team placed first overall, followed by Davis and Elkins, Seton Hill, Lock Haven and Bucknell.
“Our team had a good effort and got a lot of PRs in a big field,” Reese said.
The Susquehanna men’s cross country also competed at the Lock Haven Invitational and placed 26th out of 32 teams.

The Lock Haven team came in first on their home turf with a score of 81, which was followed by the Penn State club team, Bucknell, Davis and Elkins and Indiana University of Pennsylvania.
