Comedian Lafayette Wright treated Susquehanna students to a night of laughs on Sept. 6.
The Student Activities Committee at Susquehanna brought Wright to campus as part of their fall events lineup. Wright’s previous shows include the Washington, D.C. comedy scene and on the first season of Kevin Hart’s comedy central show, “Hart of the City.”
For nearly a decade, Wright has used his skills for the D.C. Comedy Scene. Wright credits his persona both on and off the stage to his obsession with art.
In 2017 and 2018, Wright also earned champion status in D.C. Comedy’s Kumite. Kumite involves one-night stand-up tournaments. In each event, eight standup comedians take part in a bracketed tournament.
Whoever gets the loudest audience applause advances to the next round. For many local comedians, Kumite is one of the most entertaining showcases.
SAC provides events for Susquehanna students throughout the school year.
SAC has selected other comedians to come perform for their fall semester lineup such as Joseph Tran on Sept. 17 and Jose Sarduy on Oct. 10.
The next event in SAC’s schedule is casino night, which will be held at 9 p.m. on Sept. 13 at Trax. Wristbands will be available for students who are 21 and over.
