Junior outfielder Kasey Bost connected on her 100th-career hit as the Susquehanna softball team (9-10, 2-4) split a doubleheader on the road against Elizabethtown College (9-17, 1-5) on Saturday, April 6. The River Hawks lost  game one 5–3, but rebounded for a 13–0 victory in the game two.

Bost finished the day a combined 2-4 and drew four walks during both games.

Sophomore infielder Kody Streeter collected three hits and four  RBIs. Sophomore infielder Brittany Hebda went 4-5 on the day with three RBIs.

Freshman pitcher Katie Murphy allowed only two runs over six innings, walking one and striking out three after taking over for senior pitcher Alexa Gonzalez, who lasted only five batters.

Junior outfielder Emily Lear put herself in scoring position after taking a walk and stealing second.  Bost then drove her in with a single down the left field line.

Later in the first inning with the bases loaded, Streeter notched a two-RBI single up the middle to give Susquehanna a 3–0 lead. The River Hawks left the bases loaded, leaving the door open for the Blue Jays.

With two on base in the bottom of the first, the Blue Jays evened the score with a three-run homer to center field from senior infielder Emma Varrato.

Both offenses fell silent in the middle innings, but Varrato answered the call again with her second home run of the day, this time down the left-field line, to give Elizabethtown a 5–3 lead which would be the final.

In game two, Streeter started off the offensive explosion in the first inning with a two-RBI single down the left-field line.

After a silent second inning, the River Hawks loaded the bases early in the top of the third. Hebda took advantage, knocking in a run with a single to left.

Freshman catcher Katie Koch continued the effort, hitting a double to left field, driving in two more runs for Susquehanna. Koch’s double brought the score to 5-0 in favor of Susquehanna.

Hebda continued an impressive afternoon, hitting a two-RBI double to left in the fourth inning after the River Hawks loaded the bases again with three singles from Lear, senior outfielder Jill Ahrens, and Streeter.

The River Hawks continued to pummel the Blue Jays, adding five more runs to their eight-run total thanks to Ahrens and Bost, bringing the final score to 13-0.

The Hawks will host Drew University at 1 p.m. on Saturday, April 13 in a doubleheader.
