Makeup can be a great way to express yourself and enhance the natural features of a person, and there are always new tips and tricks to learn to make the process easier.
Foundation is a basic part of a makeup routine but matching a foundation to your skin tone can get very difficult.
There are so many brands and each one has different formulas and undertones. The easiest way to try and find your undertones is to look at the inside of your wrist and see what color your veins are.
If they are blue and purple, it means that you have a cool undertone and the foundation you pick should have a pink tinge in order to match your own skin tone. If the veins on the inside of your wrist look green, then the foundation should have a warmer, yellow undertone.
Also, if you are not sure if either skin tone fits your own, it is possible that your skin has a neutral undertone, which does not lean towards either color.
Another all too familiar issue for foundation wearers is acne break outs.
Breaking out on your face, especially with more prominent breakouts, can definitely be a pain to deal with.
A trick that seems to work with covering even the worst breakouts, is using a bright lipstick to bring attention away from your acne.
This usually ends in more compliments on your lipstick color as opposed to anyone noticing there was a breakout in the first place.
Also, for the breakouts themselves there are several things to do to make covering them up significantly easier.
First, make sure your skin is as moisturized as possible.
If it isn’t too irritated, the next item to use is a silicone primer.
Tarte has a great primer called the Timeless Smoothing Primer that completely smooths over uneven skin and makes it significantly easier to put makeup on your face.
It is easy to think that the best option would be to use the heaviest full coverage concealer, but it is much easier to start light and build up from there.
That way, the makeup will cover the necessary places and still look natural.
For eye makeup, there is a few ways to make the process easier. Eyeliner and winged eyeliner seem to be one of the bigger issues many people have.
Using tape along the sides of your face can help ensure a sharp and even line. E.L.F. cosmetics has Line & Define Eye Tape that is only $2.
Although, if not using tape specifically eye safe, make sure to take some of the adhesive off on your hand first.
When applying eyeshadow, if you want a more dramatic effect, apply the lighter or metallic shades lined up with your pupil.
To amp up an eyeshadow further, you can use a setting spray like Mac Prep + Prime Fix plus to spray an eyeshadow brush and it will make the eyeshadow more intense.
You can also use Mac Fix plus to create eyeliner out of any color you want.
Recently, beauty trends have changed so that dewy foundations are becoming more popular.
An easy way to save money on new products is to buy an illuminating primer like the L’Oréal Studio Secrets Magic Lumi Light Infusing Primer.
This way, the product can be mixed with a moisturizer or an existing favorite foundation.
