The Susquehanna men’s golf team finished ninth out of 12 competing teams with 331 total points at the Dickinson Spring Invitational on March 25 in Carlisle.
Sophomore Chris Bouchard led Susquehanna for the day, shooting a 79 to finish 16th out of 62 golfers.
Following closely behind Bouchard was senior Brendan Baloh, who finished second on the team with a round score of 82. Baloh tied for 29th place.
Freshman Andrew Galleta and sophomore Logan Kern followed behind Bouchard and Baloh, shooting 84 and 86 respectively. Rounding out the field for the River Hawks was junior Jon Pierce, who shot a 95.
Gettysburg College won the invitational with a team score of 298. McDaniel finished second, shooting a team score of 312 and 24 over par for the afternoon.
Eastern University took third by finishing only one stroke behind McDaniel with a score of 313. Stevenson University took fourth place with a team score of 28 over par.
The invitational marked the beginning of the spring season for the River Hawks, who were slated to finish sixth in the Landmark Conference preseason poll. They defeated Landmark opponents Elizabethtown and Juniata, who had team scores of 351 and 379, respectively.
It was Gettysburg College that dominated the tournament, however, finishing in the top spot with a score just ten 10 shots above par.
Gettysburg also had three golfers finish in the top five of the field of 62. Christian Haldeman, Danny Harcourt and Dane Sethre-Hofstad all shot two over par to even their lines at 74 at the end of the day.
The River Hawks will continue their spring schedule this weekend at 1:15 p.m. on March 30 and 31 at the NYU invitational held at Forest Hills Golf Club in Bloomfield, N.J.
The course at the Forest Hills Golf Club is a par 71 challenge that is notorious for its 18th hole which features a 200-yard uphill slope that leads to a two-tiered green guarded heavily by bunkers.
The hole also features 40 yards of rough on the slope in front of the green.
