The Susquehanna men’s tennis team continued their undefeated season with a 7–2 victory Saturday over Shenandoah in Winchester, Va.

The win was the sixth of season for Susquehanna, who had two wins in doubles play and five wins in single play, only dropping one match in each category.

The River Hawks went 2–1 overall in doubles play to begin the afternoon with a head start.

Doubles began with a 8–0 win for senior Nicholas Merle and freshman Emil Vyskocil in No. 3 doubles.

The River Hawks kept pace in No. 2 doubles as senior Ben Ornstein and senior Ryan Seibert scored an 8–3 victory.

Senior Alex Cocolas and senior team captain Alex Dove dropped a close No. 1 match in an 8–6 decision.

Susquehanna went 5–1 in singles play, securing victory in Ben Ornstein’s match.

Singles began with a 6–0, 6–2 victory for Emil Vyskocil in No. 3 singles. Nicolas Meale continued the streak with identical scores in No. 4 singles.

Shenandoah’s Darian Diaz took the Hornet’s lone win on the day with 6–2, 6–3 victories in No. 1 singles.

Ornstein would follow with victory in No. 1 singles with 6–4, 6–1 wins. This secured victory for the River Hawks.

Alex Cocalas and senior Ashton Collins round out play with 6–1, 6–0 and 6–0, 6–0 wins respectively in the No. 5 and No. 6 singles matches.

The season for the River Hawks continues over the spring break with three matches in Orlando, Florida.

March 13 will see the River Hawks play against Franciscan University. Susquehanna continues March 14 against University of Northwestern (MN). The road-stand concludes March 15 in a match against Lawrence University.

Susquehanna will look to keep it’s perfect season in tact over the break, and with none opposing teams on the upcoming slate having a winning record, that goal seems likely.

Franciscan boasts the worst record of the three teams at only 1–6, and have been on a losing streak since their last win in September. They’ve lost their last three games by a combined score of 23-0.

Northwestern has played four games this season and split them evenly 2–2, while Lawrence University has the best record of the upcoming three opponents at 4-3.
