Sophomore Kaitlyn Gardineer held the “Blind Date With a (Social Justice) Book” event on Feb. 19 in Blough-Weis Library to encourage students to look into topics they otherwise would not. Gardineer hoped that this event would provide a space for individuals to step out of their comfort zone and learn something new. She wrapped nearly 20 books in order to disguise their subjects and labeled each one to with a pun, after which students picked a book. The inspiration for the “blind date” concept came from similar events in high school that Gardineer found interesting. She hopes to hold the same event again next year.
