The Gamma Beta Alpha chapter of Phi Beta Sigma hosted their annual “Wild ‘n Out” event on March 29 in comedic fashion.
The event was held in Isaacs auditorium at 7:00pm and is originally based off of the hit television show “Nick Cannon Presents: Wild ‘n Out” which aired on MTV and MTV2 from July 2005 up until 2008.
The show then was rebooted due to popularity and has been running on MTV2 since 2013.
Wild ‘n Out is a comedy show that puts two teams against each other to play improvisational games. Each game has a theme and teams go back and fourth trying to come up with the best punchline for each game. During the round, points are awarded for the best punchline, and are then tallied up at the end of the round to determine which team won the round. After three rounds, both teams go head to head in a freestyle improvisational rap battle called “Wild Style”, where opponents deliver punchlines directed at opposing team members while staying on beat to a song selected by the DJ. After all rounds are completed, the winning team is the team that has accumulated the most points wins.
Senior Damian Munoz said, “I Think it’s great to see an even that uses humor as a catalyst for bonding, especially within the Greek community”.
Phi Beta Sigma invited members from Greek life at Susquehanna university to perform. The teams were broken up into into the blue team, and the white team. The members got to tell jokes and show off their improv skills.
Christina Martin, a senior and an Alpha Delta Pi representative, said, “I had a great time embarrassing myself on stage through various raps, pick-up lines, and dances, and am just grateful that I was not booed off.”
The event was a spectacular way for members of the Greek community to come together and share some light-hearted humor.
Senior Brian D’Agostino said, “Phi Beta Sigma provided a great atmosphere for all of Greek life to enjoy. Really a great improv comedy show that had me jumping out of my seat. Nick Cannon and the Sigmas should be proud”.
