Susquehanna held its annual spring concert featuring Bobby Ray Simmons Jr., known by his stage name B.o.B., on March 24.

The concert was originally scheduled to be held on the lawn of Degenstein Campus Center, but due to last minute inclement weather, the concert was moved to Weber Chapel.

Magic and Airplanes—  Bobby Ray Simmons Jr., also known as B.o.B, meets with the Student Activities Committee before the artist went on to perform inside the Weber Chapel March 24. He invited students to join him on stage.

The chapel’s doors opened at 7:00 p.m., where students were met with strict security, more so than previous concerts at Susquehanna.

Security measures included frisking students, as well as placing security guards at various exits, entrances and corridors of Weber Chapel.

The general consensus when speaking to students about the concert relocation was that of disappointment.

Many students said that they were annoyed that the concert was in Weber Chapel, because the seating made it awkward to stand and have an “authentic concert experience.”

Others were confused as to why the university chose to move the concert, as the snow and cold weather had passed two days before the concert was scheduled to be held.

The 29-year-old artist, best known producing pop and hip hop, took the stage around 8 p.m., and greeted the crowd by saying, “I know y’all may have heard some weird sh*t about me, but I swear I’m not crazy; I’m just out of my f****** mind.”

This line ran right into the lyrics of his song “Out of My Mind.” The crowd responded very well to this joke, which no doubt referred to his beliefs in the flat earth theory.

Junior Zach Groce said, “Hearing him perform was an experience that blew my mind.”

B.o.B then proceeded to perform various covers as well as mainstream hits, such as “Airplanes,” “Headband,” “Magic” and “Both of Us.”

After several songs, B.o.B performed some of his newer music, but was not greeted with the same enthusiasm from the crowd as when performing his older songs.

Throughout the performance, B.o.B not only took several stage dives onto enthusiastic students, but also invited several students on stage to perform alongside him.

During the concert, B.o.B expressed his enjoyment in performing for Susquehanna and also signed various objects and student’s bodies during
the concert.

As students left the venue, many were vocal and enthusiastic about B.o.B and his performance, mainly stating that it was nice to hear an artist play songs they were familiar with and that even after a decade, it brought back memories from when they were younger.
