Senior year is here and I am more than half way done with it. To think I already bought my ticket to head back to New York for spring break.
I’m going to be handing in my midterms in a few weeks. Those midterms will be graded and I will learn those grades on mysu website as the other students do.
However, as they look for next year’s housing, I will reminisce on the joy of not needing to go through that process. No more worries about getting a roommate or coordinating housing arrangements.
Scratch that, I know this will happen in the real world, and it was good to go through it. However, knowing at least for my final year at Susquehanna University, I will not need to look for campus housing is kind of uplifting. It’s a small breath of fresh air in the busy final months of senior year.
This is not a drill.
The real world is readying its fist to start knocking on our doors come May. It’s happening and whether I’m ready or not, I am already in preparation mode. Hotel rooms have been booked for family members coming to graduation. Job applications have begun to be sent.
Life outside of Susquehanna University is becoming real.
Closing a chapter of one’s life can feel daunting, though that’s natural. It was daunting leaving high school and driving about five hours four years ago. I’m still
here though, still pushing through, working hard to make the best of both the opportunities and obstacles.
Taking these moments to recognize your accomplishments and failures are what can help you grow. It puts my experience at Susquehanna into perspective.
There is a satisfaction in looking back that I hope to keep with me going forward post-graduation.
At the end of the day, I am excited for finishing the remainder of the semester and the new adventures to come.
