The Susquehanna women’s soccer team went on the road and came out with their second consecutive shutout victory, this time a 1-0 win over Albright College this Sunday.

Junior River Hawk forward Emily Sullivan scored the lone goal with just 16 seconds in regulation off a free kick opportunity from a foul on Albright senior Mairead Ruane.

Senior goalie Julia Tolin improved to 2-0 for her collegiate career as well and also earned Landmark Conference Goalie of the Week for her game performance.

“[Tolin] is playing better than we could have asked for. She had two big saves in the first game and then in this one she made a great save to keep them from finding the back of the net,” Coach Nick Hoover said in an interview with Susquehanna sports informational team.

Senior forward Alyssa Bolger and Sullivan each had two shots on goal to lead the River Hawks. Tolin ended the game with three saves.

Both Susquehanna and Albright tallied seven shots in the game. Susquehanna had one corner kick to Albright’s six. Susquehanna fouled Albright ten times while Albright only allowed eight fouls.

Susquehanna also took on Misericordia on Wednesday and came out with a 1-1 draw in the rain to remain unbeaten so far this season.

Senior midfielder Grayclynn Juckes scored the only goal for the River Hawks in the 17th minute off of a through pass from Ruane.

Jordyn Martini scored the only goal for Mesericordia off of a 25-yard laser that just got past Tolin.

Tolin also had another strong performance in goal for the River Hawks, as she made seven saves on the evening, and remained undefeated despite Misericordia taking 20 shots on the evening.

The women’s team returns to action on Saturday, Sept. 9 when they play Hartwick for the first game of the Mayor’s Cup.

They will also play SUNY Oneonta the next day. The Hartwick game starts at 3:30 p.m.
